The song was Gaga’s 10th consecutive Top 10 US single, making her the first artist since Mariah Carey to have her first 10 singles peak within the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
With the song originally being released as part of the iTunes countdown for “Born This Way”, Lady Gaga and Interscope decided to make the song a single after the songs digital success worldwide. The single debuted at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 266,000 copies sold in the week after its Monday, May 9th release, and has since gone on to sell 2,440,000 digital copies in the United States, and 5,100,000 copies worldwide. The song is also Gaga’s highest charting song on Hot AC radio peaking at #2.
The song received critical acclaim, with many critics deeming the song as an album highlight. Much of the praise went to the song’s chorus and Fernando Garibay’s production.
